Training and Consultancy
I have been providing training and consultancy to local, national and international organisations for more than twenty years.
I offer tailor-made training and consultancy on a variety of topics, including: the development of listening skills, working with complex trauma, non-discriminatory practice, working with male survivors of abuse and sexual violence, recognising and managing vicarious traumatisation, gay-affirmative approaches to therapy, working with LGBT people, and the theory and practice of person-centred/experiential counselling.
I organised Scotland's first national conference on gay-affirmative approaches to therapy (Out of Mind, 2000) and have worked with a range of clients, including government departments, statutory service providers (police and social work), voluntary sector projects, and local counselling organisations. These include: NHS Education for Scotland, NHS Lothian, The Scottish Government, Lothian and Borders Police, The Scottish Recovery Network, Aberdeen Counselling Forum, Association for University and College Counsellors, Glasgow Caledonian University, The PF Counselling Service, Couple Counselling Lothian, Rape Crisis Scotland and Edinburgh Women's Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre.
I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a COSCA-Accredited Trainer (to Diploma level).
